The Polka Dot Project

During Research I found an amazing Project that has the same aims as I do,

There mission,

An initiative of Lifelong Media, The Polka Dot Project has been established to build a community of loving, caring individuals centered around the inclusion, acceptance and understanding of people with special needs. We hope to help erase the stigma attached to the “special needs.” population— to help people build compassion and understanding for each other, regardless of their differences.

They understand that children's natural reaction of others with special needs is to be afraid and stay away from it because it is different. They encourage children to ask what ever questions they want because that will make the conversation move forward and higher there acceptance.

This is such a good project but it is only currently in America. I also aim in the project to get children talking and understanding others however I will be doing it through design rather than hands arranging meetings between children and children with disabilities.

I love wha they stand for but feel there design isn't as fresh and exciting for children as it could be.
